What will become of this blog?

It’s been so long since I posted anything here. I never left an explanation, but I intended to. I don’t know if anyone who used to follow is active or if anyone is reading this regardless, I will still post a somewhat decent explanation.

Let’s start with a little recap, this blog was originally created in 2014 as a personal blog, in which I shared book related things such as reviews, hauls and tips, I also shared some writings and a little bit of TV shows and movies reviews. Later, I turned this blog into one purely for books and that lasted for a while, I was active throughout 2014 and half of 2015. I then got overwhelmed with high school as 2016 was my senior year, I had to focus on studying. I read less books therefore I didn’t really post anything.

That and the fact that I went through a big transition in my life in 2016 after I hit rock bottom, a serious of personal events and grudges I held for years manifested itself into a voice that screamed the most hurtful slurs. I believed the voice and it wasn’t long before I isolated myself and that was a start to the self destructive behavior I had.

I have progressed, I learned and I am recovering.

As for what will happen to this blog, I am going to turn into a personal one again, I am not going to delete my previous posts, but from today on I am sharing whatever, whenever. To give you an idea, it will be a combination of writings, poetry, experiences, tips, ramblings, favorites, books, movies, lists and some photography.

I hope you stick around, have a nice day until next post.

BookTubeAhon 2015 | Wrap up

As you know BookTubeAThon happened last week, for those who are not aware. BookTubeAThon is a yearly ReadAthon created by the amazing Ariel Bisset and hosted by a bunch of awesome Booktubers. It’s a week long readathon.

If you have no idea what BookTube is, you’re missing out on so much. BookTube is basically youtubers who talk about books. *hint: there will be a post about booktubers soon*

This was my TBR for the BookTubeAthon along with the challenges:

1. Read a book with blue on the cover.

•Barakamon Volume 1 by Satsuki Yoshino

2. Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name.

• To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.

3. Read someone else’s favorite book.
One of Amna’s favorite books

(She’s awesome, you have to check her blog out)

•Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

4. Read the last book you acquired.
•Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton.

5. Finish a book without letting go of it.

• Adventure Time: Playing With Fire by Danielle Corsetto, Zack Sterling and Meredith McClaren

6. Read a book you really want to read.

•This applies to Barakamon series by Satsuki Yoshino, so volumes 1-3

7. Read seven books.

•Barakamon Volume 2 by Satsuki Yoshino

•Barakamon Volume 3 by Satsuki Yoshino

I’ve read 5 of the books chosen and I managed to complete 5 of these challenges.

The first book I read was:

Adventure Time: Playing With Fire by Danielle Corsetto, Zack Sterling and Meredith McClaren

image1 (3)

heartheartheartheartheart (4/5)

It was a really fun read, it was just like watching an episode. This counted towards my challenge of read a book without letting go of it.

The 2nd book I finished reading was:

Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton

image3 (1)

 heartheartheartheartheart (4/5)

I enjoyed this just as much as I enjoy scrolling through the blog. This counted towards read the last book you acquired challenge.

The 3rd book I finished was

Barakamon Volume 1 by Satsuki Yoshinoimage2 (1)

I loved the anime and when I knew this had an on-going manga I ordered all the ones that were out. This was still enjoyable even after I’ve watched the anime, I still laughed. This counted towards the challenge read a book with blue on the cover + a book I really wanted to read.

The 4th book I managed to finish is

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

 heartheartheartheartheart (2/5)

This is one of the books that almost everyone loved, but then there’s me.

Let me put it this way:
I wasn’t into it. I didn’t like this book, but I didn’t hate it either.

I did a full review on this book. This counted towards the challenge read someones else’s favorite book. It’s one of Amna’s favorite books.

and the last book I read was

Barakamon Volume 2 by Satsuki Yoshino

This manga is so good, I like it’s humor and the atmosphere. This counted towards the challenge read a book with I really want to read.

I managed to read 5 books in a week which is like and accomplishment to me. I hope everyone who joined BookTubeAthon had fun.

Review: Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor-Park-Rainbow-RowellPublished: February 26th 2013 by St. Martin’s Press

Format: Hardcover, 328 pages

GenresYoung Adult, contemporary, romance.

Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.

Eleanor… Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough…Eleanor.

Park… He knows she’ll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There’s a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises…Park.

Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.

This is one of the books that almost everyone loved, but then there’s me.

I’m not such a big-fan of the romance genre, I don’t usually go for romance novels, but then I saw how everyone loved E&P and Rainbow Rowell I had to read for myself.

I remember reading a sample online, it was a 4 chapter sample and at the end of it I was just like, I need this book right now so I ordered it.

This book took place in the 80’s, which I knew next to nothing about and they had a lot of 80’s references so I had to google the names. I also looked up some of the songs they mentioned in the book which was fun.

The two main characters were Eleanor and Park. Eleanor was living with her stepfather who’s abusive alongside with her mother and siblings. She was Quirky and weird. They both lived next door and they rode the same bus to school. They sat next to each other and later developed a relationship. I didn’t feel their connection that’s why I didn’t really enjoy the story.

Let me put it this way:
I wasn’t into it. I didn’t like this book, but I didn’t hate it either.

If you’re wondering this is the first Rainbow Rowell book I ever finished, I started Fangirl and got 60 pages into it, but for some reason I never continued it, but I am planning to.

“I want everyone to meet you. You’re my favorite person of all time.”

“You saved my life, she tried to tell him. Not forever, not for good. Probably just temporarily. But you saved my life, and now I’m yours. The me that’s me right now is yours. Always.”

“He’d stopped trying to bring her back. She only came back when she felt like it anyway, in dreams and lies and broken-down déjà vu.

Review: Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

Publisher: Penguin Books Ltd

Published on: 28 October 2014

Format: Hardback | 352 pages

GenresYoung Adult, contemporary, romance.

From YouTube sensation Zoella comes a debut coming-of-age novel that perfectly captures what it means to grow up and fall in love in today’s digital world. Girl Online is the first book to be published by Keywords Press, an imprint under Simon & Schuster dedicated to today’s digital stars.

I have this dream that, secretly, all teenage girls feel exactly like me. And maybe one day, when we realize that we all feel the same, we can all stop pretending we’re something we’re not. That would be awesome. But until that day, I’m going to keep it real on this blog and keep it unreal in “real” life.

The  ACTUAL FULL Synopsis is quite spoilery so im not including it all.

Click here at your own risk for the full synopsis.

First of all I’d like to state that the fact that this book is written by Zoella or that it may be ghost written doesn’t affect my views in the review.

This book revolved around a high school girl named Pen, Pen was an anonymous blogger called Girl Online. In her blog she liked sharing little snippets of her life with her followers, she felt like she could be herself in that blog. Nobody knew she was behind that blog except her best friend, Elliot. ELLIOT IS ONE OF THE MOST LOVABLE CHARACTERS I’VE EVER ENCOUNTERED.

While reading this book, I’ve felt many things. At one point in the story I was so frustrated that I didn’t want to continue on reading. I also smiled whenever Pen was with Noah. Noah is a boy she met in her trip to New York, he plays guitar. THEY BOTH ARE SO ADORABLE TOGETHER.

The story followed her life, her friendships, hardships and when she fell in love. The characters are all so well done and realistic. This book is now one of my favorites.

“Sometimes you have to face up to your fears to realize that they aren’t actually real.”

“Every time you post something online you have a choice. You can either make it something that adds to the happiness levels in the world—or you can make it something that takes away.”

This is my first marvel comic, it follows Kamla a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani girl who lives in New Jersey, she obsesses over the Avengers. Kamala wishes to obtain powers and to look as glorious as Ms.Marvel, her wish is granted, but she later realizes that she doesn’t have to look like someone else in order to be hero.

I found this comic quite enjoyable and funny at times, if you are looking for a quick fun read, then I’d suggest this. I’m looking forward to reading the next volume.

A quote:

“There’s this ayah from the Quran that my dad always quotes when he sees something bad on TV. A fire or a flood or a bombing. “Whoever kills one person, it is as if he has killed all of mankind… And whoever saves one person, it is as if he has saved all of mankind.” When I was a little kid, that always made me feel better. Because no matter how bad things get there are always people who rush in to help. And according to my dad they are blessed.”
